Strategically Placing a Mirror

A large mirror strategically placed in the dining room can brighten it up.  It can even serve as the focal point of the room, especially if you place a large ornate mirror over a hearth or hung from the wall.  You can add candles by the mirror, and the light that comes from the candle will bounce off the mirror and make the room seem cozier at night.  During the day, mirrors can make a dining room look larger than it is.

Strategically Placing Furniture

If your dining room is spacious, you could add some furniture inside the room.  This will give the room more sitting areas as well as give the room a cozy ambience, especially if you place a breakfast nook by the window or a breakfast banquette in one corner.  You can use the same fabric and the same color that your dining chairs have so that there will be continuity in the color scheme, or you can use an altogether different color scheme so as to give your dining room a new twist.  But you have to make sure though that the new color you have chosen is along the same color palette of the original color scheme so as not to make your dining room appear gaudy.

Strategically Placing Greeneries

It is a fact that greeneries do add warmth to any part of the house, so if you want to have a more inviting dining area, you can strategically place greeneries and even fresh flowers in your dining room.  The greeneries can be arranged artfully over the hearth to draw attention to the large mirror and candles, and the floral arrangements can be placed on the center of the dining table, where they can serve as centerpieces, but you have to make sure though that your floral arrangement does not obstruct anybody’s view.
